Norton Cafe Racer Replica
The first photo is the one supplied by the customer. I then enlarged it to figure the dimensions by comparing the length of the tank and the distance between the holes in the frame. Then outline of the image was traced, the photo removed and a full size template printed.
the template was tacked to the side of a block of foam and cut. all surfaces then were leveled. The skirt {bottom edge} is left long to be trimmed later.
The sides were cut to the same angle as the tank. The corners radiuses were given the same treatment.
At this stage it gets a coat of plaster and sanded to the final shape. It will then be painted with resin and the final finish.
After seeing the above photos the customer wanted to have a more pointed rear end. The plug was modified and the final parts were made, and are what you see here.

CB750 Cafe

This
bike is being done as a demonstration that a first class Cafe Racer can be built
on a budget. I picked
this bike up as a basket case (right) on eBay for $200. This
thing was a disaster. The
frame had been cut and modified and the engine was full of gunk. Every part
needed some work. I also got a spare frame with it that was in good shape
(left), so I sent it out for sandblasting. The engine was given a modest
rebuild. Parts painted and polished. The few items I bought were new fork tubes,
clipons, new spokes for the wheels for the front and rear and a NOS set of MANX
pipes. This project is also being used as a test bed for all the
new products I am
making. the inner and
outer fenders, seat, tank and
fairing
can all be seen on the "Products" page of this web
site. The new oil tank can be seen in the photo (lower left), with the lines and
fittings yet to go. I will add further updates as the project continues.
